Ha ha, already pre-empted that one Jim. I have added the ExchBE to the Custom Connection limit which is set to 1000000 Paul Crisp Snr Network Support Analyst ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Harrison To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Thursday, May 05, 2005 8:52 PM Subject: [isalist] RE: Exchange 2003 / ISA 2004 - Outbound Email http://www.ISAserver.org Check your ISA alerts and Application event logs. I'll bet that you find "connection limit exceeded" and the IP of your ExchBE listed. 2000 emails in a single shot will create a buttload (technical term) of traffic through the ISA. ------------------------------------------------------- Jim Harrison MCP(NT4, W2K), A+, Network+, PCG http://isaserver.org/Jim_Harrison/ http://isatools.org Read the help / books / articles! ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Paul Crisp [mailto:pcrisp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, May 05, 2005 12:10 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] Exchange 2003 / ISA 2004 - Outbound Email http://www.ISAserver.org Hi all Ok done some reading on this and managed to get my Exchange 2003 BE server sending outbound emails with out a problem. I also done a telnet test to port 25 and confirmed I was going via the firewall. After about 5mins of working we have some daily email services that go out, sends around a 2000 email shot to some of our customers. During this point, it seemed as though the Exchange server would no longer send emails, they just kept queuing up. I tried a telnet test again to an IP address (another site we have) and this failed as well. I have read through the Microsoft paper online for the Exchange Deployment kit and I have a setup as follows: We have DNS internally for AD only, so primary and secondary DNS servers on the Exchange box are pointing to our internal servers Exchange default gateway is pointing to the ISA box internal IP address I have configured the Exchange SMTP Virtual Server to use our external ISP DNS Servers I have configured two firewall policies on the ISA box 1 - SMTP Exchange->Internet Allow SMTP Exchange Server (Computer IP Address) External All Users 2 - SMTP Exchange->External DNS Allow DNS Exchange Server(Computer IP Address) ISP Primary/ISP Secondary(Computer IP Address) All Users Can anyone give me any clues where to look to try and solve this problem?
