Thanks for the insight. I'm currently putting together another machine for Oracle. I just wanted to know really if this was a viable option. Thanks again for your feedback and believe it or not it's very helpful!! ----- Original Message ----- From: Allan To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Saturday, May 11, 2002 2:13 PM Subject: [isalist] Re: Any know issues with Oracle 9i installation on an ISA Server machine http://www.ISAserver.org Unless you've applied the Oracle security patch don't put it anywhere near the internet. Unless it's just a small application - why? if It's a large application there will be a performance implication somewhere. As soon as your firewall is taken out so is your database - if your firewall is compromised so is your database (immediately). If you've got any sensitive/important data then in reality this is a no no. I'm not sure but I suspect that you won't be able to lock the machine down tight enough. Oracle listener may also be a problem as it's going to want a port. What's the reason you want to go through this grief. Sorry if this is a lot of negatives but for the sake of a small machine to run ISA on you're asking for a lot of pain. My ISA Server machine is working fine now and I really don't want to mess anything up by installing oracle so this is why I'm asking the question before I do.. Any tips will be most appreciated.. ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: aikido@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: smcleod@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub')
