http://www.ISAserver.org ------------------------------------------------------- Do not attempt to copy, delete, shrink, expand, colorize or otherwise mangle ISA MSDE log files directly or from another machine. ISA and MSDE own all live databases and any database "adjustment" while it's in use will cause ISA failure. MSDE databases will not grow beyond 2GB, and so will not benefit from your attempts to adjust them. -----Original Message----- From: isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Michael Ross Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2007 11:25 AM To: isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [isalist] Re: Allowing sql connections http://www.ISAserver.org ------------------------------------------------------- I have a couple DBs that are nearing 1.8 GB, and I wanted to use SQL' manager to shrink the databases and the log files, but I cannot do this. I can connect to MSDE on other servers. -----Original Message----- From: isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Harrison Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2007 10:32 AM To: isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [isalist] Re: Allowing sql connections http://www.ISAserver.org ------------------------------------------------------- This: "I have a couple servers that ive setup to allow to connect to the ISA box via sql, editing the system policy and allowing them on the remote logging sql section" ..doesn't make sense.. There is *NO* system policy to allow remote connections to ISA-local MSDE and with good reason. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? -----Original Message----- From: isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Michael Ross Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2007 8:17 AM To: isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [isalist] Allowing sql connections http://www.ISAserver.org ------------------------------------------------------- I have a couple servers that ive setup to allow to connect to the ISA box via sql, editing the system policy and allowing them on the remote logging sql section.. But.. I cannot connect to MSDE using SQL 2005's SQL manager. I can connect to other MSDE databases using this manager. Im thinking my ISA box is extra, extra secured, and I cannot determine where its locked down so tight. I also think this is why I cannnot configure it to log to the sql server.
