Hi Chris,

In that case, use a packet filter, since there isn't any ALF to protect
the traffic anyhow for that app.

You can control the source address that can connect in the packet filter
properties.

it is an app called Roam Server from www.ipass.com which basically is a
go-between from their authentication servers to our LAN and our LDAP/AD
authentication servers for remote access services.

Hi Chris,

Is this a client application or a service that you want to make
available to external hosts?

Thanks!
Tom

If the service is on the ISA server will the packet filter alone do or
do I
need a publishing rule as well?

Hi Chris,

Protocol Rules are only for outbound access from LAT to non-LAT hosts.

Publishing Rules are used for inbound access.

NOTE: the nomenclature completely changes with ISA Server 2004 :-)

So the rules under PROTOCOL RULES can be inbound or outbound depending
on
the client set allowed to use the rule?
