It is a great opportunity if you are not on it to join so that you can
advocate as to the topics they raise periodically
Todays survey deals with railway (includes trams) crossing - whilst it takes
a vehicular perspective there is scope in the answers to refer to the vision
& hearing perspectives. It is quite user friendly to undertake & submit.

Railway Crossings - Zero Harm Survey
Dear Member,
On behalf of the Department for Transport, Planning and Infrastructure we
are forwarding you an invitation to participate in an online survey about
various safety issues at railway crossings.
* Please visit <http://www.yoursay.sa.gov.au> www.yoursay.sa.gov.au
and open all active surveys to find the Railway Crossing Safety Strategy
survey
* The closing date is 5:00 pm, Friday 9 September 2016
On 29 July 2016, the Hon Stephen Mullighan MP, Minister for Transport and
Infrastructure released for public consultation the Draft South Australian
Railway Crossing Safety Strategy.
The draft Strategy outlines various safety issues at railway crossings in
South Australia and proposes a range of measures including, but not limited
to:
* Grade separating railway crossings;
* Identifying crossings for infrastructure and safety improvements; and
* Identifying crossings for possible closure where safer alternatives exist.
Between 2011 and 2015, four people were killed and six people were seriously
injured at railway crossings in this State and 660 near-misses were reported
by rail operators.
While they do not occur often, any incident at a railway crossing can cause
service disruptions, motorist delays, property damage and, in the most
serious cases, injury and death. The impacts on communities and the economy,
as well as the loss of confidence in the rail transport system, can be
significant and far-reaching.
With 710 railway crossings on public roads in metropolitan and rural South
Australia and more than 360 pedestrian crossings on Adelaide's passenger
rail network, we need to consider what more can be done to reduce the risk
of any incident occurring.
You are invited to provide feedback on the Draft Railway Crossing Safety
Strategy by 5:00pm on Friday 9 September 2016. Please visit
<http://www.yoursay.sa.gov.au> www.yoursay.sa.gov.au for details.
You have been sent this as a member of the Disability Engagement Register.
