Family Fun Festival!
At Double Up 4 Vision!
Saturday, October 23, 10 am - 3pm
Pier I at 70th Street in Riverside Park
Meet Peter the Clown, celebrated Paralympics athletes,
experience tandem cycling, hear music from different cultures,
paint your face, take a photo with Arthur the Aardvark and
visit with puppies at the Guide Dog Foundation tent!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
10 am - 2 pm Tandem Cycling Clinic
Join celebrated Paralympics athletes and discover the joy of tandem cycling.
Bring your camera for a photo op and take a ride on a tandem bike or tagalong.
A government ID and credit card will be required to take a bike out on the
practice area, but there is no charge to use the bike.
11:30 am Drumming Rhythms from Around the World
The children's percussion class of The Filomen M. D'Agostino Music School at
Lighthouse International performs a variety of musical styles from around the
world, including Egyptian, gahu and samba. Drummers who are visually impaired
follow cues from the lead drum and react in unison to each new beat,
demonstrating
listening skills they have developed and honed.
12 pm Storytelling of Arthur's Eyes
Listen to the story of Arthur's Eyes told by storyteller Pat Russell. Friends
tease
Arthur when he gets glasses, but he soon learns to wear them with pride. After
the story, take a photo with Arthur and receive a free copy of his book.
12:30 pm Music by JAM 59
Lighthouse International's pop/rock group JAM 59 plays favorite tunes by noted
artists such as Alicia Keyes, Kris Kristofferson, Cyndi Lauper and Paul
McCartney.
