      Celebrate ila's 30th Anniversary November 1, 2007

Dear ila Friends,

Just a reminder that our Gift Highlights is in the mail and on our site. Use
the specially low handling and shipping offer that is mentioned there and that
expires on November 15, 2007.

This is the month when we give thanks for the things in our lives that we are
fortunate to have - food, a warm home(or, cool home in the heat), clothing,
safety, health and/or good medical care, and the opportunity to enjoy
ourselves. Thanksgiving is the day we officially give thanks and it revolves
around a delicious turkey dinner with family. We don't want to spoil your
dinner, but after you look at this month's attractive specials, read about some
new research findings regarding foods you should/should not eat to reduce their
contribution to your getting macular degeneration, osteoporosis, or diabetes.

Specials include a couple of brand new items and a couple of popular old
standards - all at very attractive prices.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On July 17, 2007, Nicholas Bakalar reported in the New York Times on a study
that showed that "the higher the dietary glycemic index, the more likely a
person was to have macular degeneration." The glycemic index measures how
quickly carbohydrates are metabolized. Carbohydrates in foods like white bread,
cakes, cookies cheese pizza or foods sweetened with sugar or corn syrup have
high glycemic indices. The article, "Study Finds Dietary Link to risk of Eye
Disorder" also points out that "Heavy consumption of foods with a high glycemic
index has been implicated in the development of diabetes, cardiovascular
disease and some cancers."

While exercising has been advised as being extremely effective in reducing the
chances of your getting osteoporosis, eating a diet of foods high in calcium
and that are vitamin D-fortified is also highly recommended. Foods that are
rich in calcium include milk, cheese, yogurt, greens, dried beans and peas,
tofu, and calcium-fortified foods.

Now back to turkey - it is one of the leanest meat protein sources available
plus it is rich in niacin, selenium, Vitamins B6, B12 and zinc.
