Hold on to your necklaces, ladies! According to police, there's a robber on the loose in Chelsea, snatching the chains off of women's necks and running away. Detectives in New York's 10th precinct are asking for the public's help in catching the daring daytime bandit who has victimized three older women in the last three weeks. The three victims are between the ages of 42 and 64. Two of the robberies took place just before noon on West 17th street, the first on June 24th. One neighbor knows the first victim, who saw her mugger sitting ona bench in the Fulton Houses minutes before he attacked her. "He was just sitting there, she didn't think anything of it," the neighbor said. "He got up and grabbed her from behind and ran. What hurt her most is that it's 19 years old.it was a necklace with sentimental value." The second robbery took place ten days later, and just a few feet away from the scene of the first crime. Police say the 64-year-old victim was getting out of a parked car when the necklace was ripped off her neck. The third robbery occurred last Monday on W. 27th Street, when police say a 62-year-old woman was entering the lobby of a building as the mugger snatched the chain off her neck and ran away. Police used surveillance cameras on W. 17th to capture a picture of the suspect. He appears to be between the ages of 35 and 45, between 5'9 and 5'11 in height, with a mustache and goatee. All the robberies took place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. no image no image (© MMX, CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved.) http://bit.ly/9ObFrZ
