I am having trouble installing Ubuntu 7.04 (Guest OS) thru Parallels
Workstation on my Windows XP (Host OS).
I have a Compaq Presario Model - V3149 AU
AMD Turion
1 GB RAM
100 GB HDD
I installed Parallels. Created a new VM with config as 512MB RAM, 5120 MB
Harddisk.
When I try to boot using
the Ubuntu CD, i get the error
[ 0.00000] ACPI : Unable to locate RSDP
Googling suggested turning off the Power Management settings in BIOS.
Or try passing acpi=off kernel parameter.
Also tell me, is it true that Parallels Workstation works only with CDs and
not DVDs.
I think it did not boot from my new Solaris 10 DVD.
Parallels Workstation's VM Hardware spec says
<Quote>
Up to four IDE devices, that may be either virtual hard drives (from
20 Mb up to 128 Gb each, mapped to image file), or CD/DVD-ROM drives
(mapped to physical drive or to image file), or both hard drives and
CD/DVD-ROM drives;

So I think it should theoretically boot out of your DVD.
Did you check whether your DVD is proper? Did you try booting your PC
with the DVD before trying with Parallels?
