 ?hi !
   i finally configured the kernel.actually i have changed the label for grub 
.then it started to boot.that was the problem.since grub starts numbering from 
0,i have to decrease the order by one from the one shown in hard drive.Thank u 
so much for the  suggestions and timely response.
