[Ilugc] strange problem of sound in Debian linux

hi all!
i have successfully installed Debian Linux on my computer but having
strange problems about sound card.If i log in as root i am able to
play songs but as a normal user i am unable to play songs or it is
giving sound card problems.dont know why??
what should i do?
