[Ilugc] samba authentication with pear

Hi all,
        I want to use  PEAR::Auth package for authentication with SMBPasswd.For 
that 
i have to provide the path of smbpasswd file.But the file  
'/etc/samba/smbpasswd' cannot be accessed.It says permission denied.How shall 
I go about it?
