Greets!
I hope someone can give me a few pointers on this..
I had 2 80GB SATA disks in a RAID0 (striping) config. /dev/md0
consisted of sda1 and sdb1.
It was working fine with reiserfs (3.6) as my gentoo (2004.3) root partition.
I wanted to switch to the gentoo 2005.0 profile and it was giving me
hell for over 3-4 days. So, I thought why not do a fresh install... :)
And from the gentoo live CD, I had to use mdadm to get /dev/md0
working. But instead of using
mdadm --assemble
I used mdadm --create. It did give me a warning that the two
partitions were already part of a RAID array, but I ignored it (brain
dead.. I know :)
Took some 5 minutes to realize what I'd done.. switched off system..
booted with knoppix.. used mdadm to assemble /dev/md0 and ran
fsck.reiserfs. It reported quite a few problems and moved a lot of
files to /lost+found. It did fix all problems though.
After this, if I try to mount the partition (from knoppix or gentoo
live CD), it generates
a kernel panic and the whole box freezes. fsck.reiserfs still says
that there are no problems.
message:
-------
ReiserFS: Detected ReiserFS(3.6) ... ... ...

I tried to extract data from /dev/md0 using rfstool which can extract
files from a reiserfs partition. But it doesn't work. Tells me
something about "bad magic" and that it isn't a reiserfs partition.
What do I do now? I need the data badly.. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks
