The final version of Redhat I used was 4.0! I'm probably
not best equiped to answer your question.
On my debian boxes that run 2.4/2.6 kernels, enabling this
kernel module allows me to "halt -p" and power off the box.
A good thing for headless servers is that you can also
shutdown by pressing the power button in the front panel.
