Hi ,
From whom did you get permission to screen the movie?
The movie is available under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 . The license allows one to
- *Share* ? copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
And there was no monetary benefit collected out of this . And it was a free
(Free as in Free Coffee) event for participants , which
ideally satisfies the *NonCommercial * aspect of the license .
Would it not be ironic to ask for 'permission' to screen a movie on
Aaron Swartz?
I find it interesting that 'ironic' is being used more frequently [1]
Shakthi has a valid question -
<https://archive.org/details/TheInternetsOwnBoyTheStoryOfAaronSwartz>
does not explicitly mention anything about screening for a general
audience. The movie itself is available for download under
<http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/> which has its own
set of "things you can do".
And its further mentioned in the license that "
- *No additional restrictions* ? You may not apply legal terms or
technological
measures <
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/#> that
legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits."
*Note :* If at all there was a violation , its a genuine case that we might
have misunderstood the clauses of the license . In that case , please let
us know so that we can rectify them .
