Apache. And whatever apps you are using, if they have their own log  
files. Disable all the sites and bring them up one by one. You  
should be able to isolate what's gumming up the works. From  
whatever little information you are giving, there is no way to know.

yes. I have disabled most of the sites - still no joy. Will disable  
the rest next and see what happens
