Hi,
On linux, Kino (http://kino.schirmacher.de/) is very good for video
dumping (capturing) which I have used and can assure you about dumping
quality. It is supposed to give a lot of good effects in editing too but
I havent tried this editing part yet. Kino is free.
There is another alternative Main Actor, which seems to be a faar better
software. I havent used it. This one is not free though.
