CouchDB, which is gaining in popularity by the day, is written in erlang.
Though most 'views' in it are written in javascript, writing it in erlang
(its native tongue!) is supposed to improve performance by an order of
magnitude. So, who knows ... we all might be coding in erlang in a year or
so :-)
