So what. Yahoo's biggest competitor, Google uses Linux.
IMO, The original question is pretty pointless. None of the Linux or
BSD versions are the result of the kind of sloppy coding that makes
Windows a nightmare. Security depends more on the admin than the OS
(assuming the OS is not Windows). Someone says FreeBSD is the stablest
- I have Linux machines showing uptimes of 200+ days. Somebody else
says OpenBSD is the most secure - I have Linux machines running Redhat
7.3 (without updates, as the third-party software running on them
depend on pristine 7.3) and never been cracked.
Since most of the Linux distros are based on the same codebase, I'd
say they are more or less equal when it comes to secure code. The
remaining issue is full disclosure (far more important to computer
security than anything else) - and I find almost all the Linux
distributions following responsible disclosure guidelines (even
OpenLinux!) - and so do the *BSDs.
