rpm is a package file format supported by RedHat and RedHat-based
distros. It is not directly installable on Debian and Debian-based
distros like Ubuntu which use .deb package file format.
There is a tool called 'alien' which helps in converting .rpm packages
to .deb packages so that they can be installed in Debian-based distros,
but it isn't always guaranteed to work.
