hey, delete the gnome configuration folder in your home directory and
gnome configuration files. then login again. you could see wat u see
before.
if bala is the user /home/bala
then there is a hidden folder called .gnome and .gnome-desktop
backup and delete and login. it will work for sure.

Till few days beack my RHL 9.0 was working fine.
