[Ilugc] dialing to internet as root

Hi everyone,

I wish to know the effects of dialing to the internet (ppp) as root.  Is it a 
security loophole ? If so in what way ?

I guess the dialer (like wvdial or minicom) just starts pppd, which always runs 
as root.  So does the uid of the dialer make any issue ?

Can anyone clear my doubt pls ?
