Dear ILUGC,
I have managed to get autofs and automount going, with a timeout of
one second, as it is only for a removable device. I run the automount
command myself as
automount -t 1 /auto file /etc/auto.misc
from rc.local.
Now, the problem with this setup is that unless I manually look up the
mount point, I don't see it. The automounting HOWTO suggests creation
of symbolic links or editing the configurations (where are they?) to
work around this. I was wondering if someone has got a more elegant
solution. This isn't too important, but would be nice.
