Not considering the cost of implementation, is it a good idea to go for
exchange or notes? Is there any such opensource or commercial linux
groupware apps that are similar to exchange? Ease of use is a major concern.
Windows 2003 is a good product, a fairly stable product but I wouldnt
dream of sticking it in where we have *bsd and linux machines .. for one
thing it'd require something like 4..5 times the amount of server
hardware to do anywhere near the same job that's done with bsd (and some
of our machines are quad xeons which require HIGHMEM patches for the
amount of RAM they have).
How do I convince someone who is ready to pay for MS software as well as the
powerful hardware it requires. His only point is that it will increase
productivity and many large organizations are using such setup. I dont think
I can talk technical aspects to him. I will post to this list, after further
discussions with him in one or two days.
