Dear fellow hackers,
A lot of people when asked what domain they work on they say
insurance, finance and so on.
Or name the client,eBay, Ford.
That is not the way techies speak.
Domain is networking, database, server management, network monitoring etc.
Coding is done in programming languages which itself takes a lot of
time to master.
Alongside one also should focus on gaining domain know how.
A basic knowledge of networking and crypto,security is essential.
That is even true for non engineers.
I have met a lot of successful MCA "engineers" in my career.
Actually MCA is not engineering. And some do well due to hard work.
To do successful coding one has to think like an engineer.
Which means that you should know not just coding in which you obviously learn
something like C or C++ or Java, perl or python.
In addition you also should master a technology area that is of your
interest and that demands
your knowledge for the job.
Only in so doing you can achieve proficiency and truly enjoy hacking.
So to summarize in order to do well you have to know not just coding
but also a domain.
The concepts, the latest trends, the foundation knowledge, the tools and so on.
