Yes it used to be good. If it is still available you can buy it.
Generally Intel mobos are good. They last, under warranty apparently you can
get replacement and though their fan design is bad Intel is still good
from other
angles.
For UNIXes Intel is a good choice.
But then you need to also think about processor compatibility and
RAM(DDR3 and so on).
