On behalf of ILUGC, yesterday (24/2/05) I did a seminar in
Vivekananda College to MCA,MSc(IT) and BCA students about FOSS. There
were about 100 students and the management and faculty were keenly
involved. The response was good, and the question answer sessions
lasted more than 45 minutes (due which I could not demo software).
The management and faculty, agreed to revise their syllabus to make
it predominently FOSS based, with bare minimum proprietory software.
They have already done two things: Operating System concepts and
C/C++ programming on Linux. I will be co-ordinating with them for
revising the syllabus to weed out Proprietory as much as possible. I
am confident that this college will soon have Free(dom) syllabus.
They will soon organise tutorial sessions, to which, I committed that
ILUGC will provide required help, in anticipation of luggies
co-operation.
