xrandr -s 1024x768
Gives "Size 1024x768 not found in available modes" as output
> Just type xrandr to know the modes your video card likes.
Typing xandr gives
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 800 x 600, current 800 x 600, maximum 800 x 600
default connected 800x600+0+0 0mm x 0mm
800x600 0.0*
KDE also has a GUI frontend to it called KRandr.
The GUI frontend also shows only 800x600
I was using Fedora 12 (both gnome and KDE) in 1024x768 resolution before
installing Maverick
