Dear all,
A two day FOSS workshop was conducted in National Engineering College,
Kovilpatti, for
system administrators / lab technical assistants on "Setting up of FOSS Lab
using
Fedora-14 and Linux system administration"
Fedora-14 installation DVD with complete repository was provided for all the
participants.
The participants were provided with individual PCs to practice the following
things.
1. Remote installation of Fedora-14 through PXE lan booting.
2. Package management using YUM
3. Customizing kickstart for automated installation
4. Configuring Samba and CUPS
5. Configuring Networking in Linux
6. Virtualization through QEMU using FreeDOS (by welkin)
7. Linux kernel compilation
8. Installation of various software packages through fedora repository
(gambas, qt, gtk, auto* tools, java/ant tools etc.)
9. Installing and working with subversion (by welkin)
