Hmm... good idea. But, I would rather not give too many details about
supercomputers, clusters et al, because then people will begin to think too
technically. We'd like some radical/humorous responses as well, right?
So, here's what I suggest: I'll give you the list of some of the
supercomputers that run GNU/Linux and you can Google their names and check
it out. Sounds ok?
1) IBM Blue Gene/L
2) Silicon Graphics' Columbia
3) ASC Purple
4) Dell Thunderbird
5) Cray Red Storm Cray XT3
6) NEC Earth Simulator
7) IBM MareNostrum
8) Cray Jaguar Cray XT3
We request all those who are interested to kindly send in your responses
to
this question to Janani (writetojanani@xxxxxxxxx) with a CC to Atul
(atul@xxxxxxxxxxxx).
<Toufeeq>Instead can't we have a general LUG-type discussion on the LUG
mailing
list and you can just grab the "juicy" bits and put them as an opinion
on LFY.Something like kerneltraffic.</Toufeeq>
Again a good idea, but sometimes the thought of being published might cause
people to shy away from a discussion! So, let's have this as a discussion on
ILUG-C, but at the same time, let's be clear on the fact that unless you CC
the mail explicitly to me and Atul, we will not consider it for publication.
That way we achieve the best of both worlds: the topic gets discussed on the
mailing list, and at the same time we won't be scaring away the media shy
people from this discussion. What say you?
