Dear Luggies,
On behalf of ILUGC,I,Bhaskar and Srinivasan conducted a workshop
on OpenSource software at the Ramakrishan Mission Institute-College,
a polytechnic teaching mechanical engg. It was held for 3 days from
3-May-05 to 5-May-05
We covered basics like installation,desktops, gui tools like
OO,GIMP, programming like glade, quanta plus etc. More than 80% of
time was practicals to the participants.
There were about 14 participants - Polytechnic mechanical engg
faculty, Computer science faculty from Vivekananda College,
Sys.admins from RK Math, Teachers from RKM schools, and a swamiji
from the Math.
The participants were very enthusiastic and I am sure FOSS will
be a part of the RK Mission.
I will also be co-ordinating in developing software for
computerising their administrative, student and donation management
system.
Whoever is willing to contribute to the software development
please contact me offlist.
