Software Freedom Day Celebration At Mahadanapuram.
Our Software Freedom Day Celebration Started on August 15, (Independence
Day of India).
To Celebrate the event from the grass root we started giving computer
training program to school students of the follwing Schools.
1. Government High School, Theethampalayam, Mahadanapuram,
2. Government High School, Mettu Mahadanapuram,
3. Government Higher Secondary School, Krishnarayapuram.
4. Sri.M.V. Muthu krishna Iyer Industrial Training Institute,
Mahadanapuram.
Some of the Newspapers has written articles about SFD Celebrations are as
follows.

2. Kalai Kathir
3. Daily Thanthi
4. Dinamani
5. Indian Express.
On the day of SFD, the students were given demo of using Ubuntu and other
FOSS Software.
We prepared around 2000 pamphlets about the SFD celebration and
distributed it.
Since our centre is located in village, our team decided to form a free
computer game centre to create more interest among the students.
We inaugurated a Free Computer Game Centre named " Rajaram Siruvargal
Video Game Ulagam"
The session started with the prayer.
Mr. Jaganathan, Principal, Sri. M.V.M ITI gave a brief introduction about
computers and its uses.
Mr. Rajasekaran, Vice Principal Sri MVM ITI gave a lecture about
utilisation of computers in industrial Training Institute.
Mr. Rajaram, wished that there should be lot of support from city and
international groups for making the technolgy to reach the village.
Mr. L.Ramkumar, Organiser SFD, Mahadanpuram gave the ideas of Software.
then he told about What is Software Freedom and what are the reasons for
celebrating Software Freedom Day.
Mr. Mathivannan, Regional Director, Lexicon Training Academy told his
experience with software monopoly and he conveyed Software Freedom is
necessary for India.
Mr. Muthukumar asked the student community to create their own open source
software which should help others for future development.
Dr. Meena, Cheif Guest relesed the Ubuntu CD for public distribution.
She described briefly about the neccessity of Software Freedom. She
distributed nearly 100 Certificate to the students and public participated
in the Computer Awareness Camp.
Around 500 members of different age group and sector witnessed and shared
their thoughts in the Software Freeom Day Celebration at Mahadanapuram.
The media persons made visit to Schools and wrote a brief article before
and after the celebration.
The Students, Government Officials, Teachers, Public Participated with
enthu and SFD 2006 has spread the message of Software Freedom.
