I think Yes.Just curious about the differences between RHEL, fedora and centos both (on
centos,fedora) of which are funded by red hat .
RHEL is good on Enterprise side , fedora is more on desktop side and
centos on enterprise side .
Is centos is actively developed and maintained as i see more activity
fedora sideyes

Could you please let me know what are the major differences bewteen these
os in terms of features , support model , community and industryacceptance
.from
RHEL Supported by redhat not always a bleeding edge one . RHEL derived
fedora . For eg: RHEL 6 is derived from fedora 14 .
People cannot contribute to RHEL i think.
Fedora Always bleeding edge one since release cycle duration is 6 months .*
Most of the open source contribution is done in fedora.
Centos*> ALL RHEL source codes are freely available to download in redhat
Hello Yuvraj,
Many thanks a lot for your inputs .
just curious can i maintain my dev/test/staging as Centos and Production
website . So some people out there download those code and built it by
removing all the redhat logos and changing the background color from red to
blue ;) and yeah renamed it to CentOS . CentOS is backed by most of the
linux web hosting companies.
Redhat wont support Centos but you can easily migrate from CentOS to RHEL
and get support from redhat.
RHEL and Centos is binary compatible.
For Production Environment
If(have money){}
RHEL
else
{
Centos
}
All the 3 distros are rpm based one.
Hello Yuvraj/all,
Many thanks a lot for your inputs .
just curious can i maintain my dev/test/staging as Centos and build
everything in centos
and move the binaries to RHEL os in Production .
Works out of box
How feasible is this choice and what are the risks i will face as both are
binary compatible .
irc.freenode.net/Centos To get realtime answers ;)
what are the things i need to consider in moving forward
Thanks
Narendra
