The natural responses of most senior people belong to a time when the
world was a safer place. Are they willing (esp. in India) to follow
someone else's (usually a junior person's) directions (usually more
inconvenient than the "obvious" way) on how things must be done?

IMO, it is more than that - they loose control and this they are not 
used to.
