Touchtel guys offer very good DSL connectivity @ 128/256/512 kbps. They
give out different makes of USB modems for net access. The one I got my
hands on, I really couldn't configure for Linux. I do not know about
other models.
If I remember well, you have to buy the modem for some 3000 bucks, or
you can pay a rent of Rs.100/month for it.
there is still hope.
What I suggest is :
1. Buy an Ethernet Card and configure it under Linux
2. Ask them to provide you with a Router and not a USB modem. For this
they will charge you Rs.200 extra per month, or you can buy one for
Rs.6000
3. Plug the router's RJ-45 cable into you Ethernet card
4. Fire up your fav browser and hit the Net
All you need to do is set up your router as your default gateway and
everything from this point on will work.
Touchtel has good schemes and connectivity offered by them is pretty
decent.
I am recommending this since I use it myself.
