Instead of opening your own E-com store why not join
an international chain of stores setup to help small
clothing/merchandise vendors.
Now , the success of any web portal is that the manner in which it
is marketed.
I am going to club human forces to market this model. As i am a
service guy , i will impart the relevance of having a web shop for the
manufactures invariable of their financial status.
Think of a revenue from google adsense, to whom it goes? the cafepress
or the manufacturer. The idea is to cut the middle man commission and
give the benefit to
the consumer. I read and heard various article that purchases from
webstore carries less price than the physical store elsewhere in
abroad.Relatively if you see here, there is no talk about webstore,
the market is lying in the hands of middle men.
Many of the webstore developed here suffers failure because of
development issues/marketing will. if you take a webstore
http://www.vegvan.com which is primarily developed to support supply
of vegetables for chennai residents. but to my knowledge this is
suffered a blow by the Tamil nadu vanigar sangham who is headed by
Mr. Vellaiyan a local person who openly declared against the use of
computers.Let in the future we have direct converstion be there
between the consumer and the manufacturer and no third party.
A small merchant can setup a web shop at a cost of Rs.3500 (domain
name + webspace of 100 mb) plus Rs 1500 for service fees for a
service person ( in this case for myself ;) ).
going behind any worthy webstore may have their own positive points
but still any manufacture needs their own product details stored in
their own portal.

One concern is the price, as the stuff is traded in
dollars, but you will have an international market and
you need'nt worry about the
sales/distribution/transport as all that is taken care
off.
