The issue seems to be with the free driver provided by Intel.
This affects any distribution that includes 2.6.27 rc series of kernels
which is usually just the development distributions. However the latest
rawhide (Fedora development branch) has removed this module temporarily
to workaround this problem till a proper fix is available.
