hi all,
i see most of the people having trouble with connecting bsnl using linux.
here are few which i followed when using with mandrake 10.1 to connect
to internet using bsnl broadband ut star modem.
1. please check for ethernet configured with a ip address
ipconfig eth0
this will tell what ip is assigned with eth0.
2. check for ipconfig
this will list eth0, lo0, and ppp0 if connected.
3. if u see ipaddress assigned for both eth0 and ppp0, you may not get
connecction.
ifdown eth0
4. adsl-stop
5.adsl-start
6. ipconfig
7. check for ip in eth0 and ppp0 or pppX - X-means some numbers
8. meanwhile if you have more pppoe running, check for it using
ps -ef | grep pppoe
ps -ef | grep ppp
9.kill all the process and then again start using adsl-connect and if
connected, ping for google.com
10. you might get connected if u did as i mentioned before.
sometimes the server get connected but u may not able to browse. at
those stop using adsl-stop and then adsl-connect
remember only one instance of pppoe should be running. for this check
using ps as i mentioned above step 8
i hope this will help you.
