Work dealt mostly writing in different languages and learning protocols and
breaking things to integrate. I'm fairly knowledgeable in Linux systems.
This is good. Above experience would help in your transition.
Have been offered a SysAdmin trainee offer.
IMO, Developers tend to have a silo PoV v/s Sys/Net Admins need to
have a "wide angle" (almost 360 degree) view and good trouble shooting
skills. Your users will report a symptom and you need to figure out
(very quickly) where in the Network/Host stack the problem could be.
Find a good mentor and don't let go of him/her.
