I agree with Mr.Bharathi
Talking too much philosophy, pointing that they
should call only GNU/linux etc., to a newbie, I feel
is like ragging in colleges. Let us first allow them
to know that alternatives to M$ exist, and that these
alternatives are superior both materially and morally.
I observe from this list that we have lost few
newbies by such postings, which only weakens our
cause.

Stressing on the `free beer' aspect of FreeSoftware is downright
suicidal.
Instead of using the word "FREE", use "FREEDOM" :)
. All this
things are depend on the type people, who are
lessening. If Tech
people then, highlight the aspects of learning and
sharing of knowledge
etc. For Normal User, highlight the aspect of Adv
and cost.
I feel, FSF *philosophy* is hard to understand by
newbies :)
So GNU/People can take different route(s) to make
the Normal
people to understand it.
In college, just form a L.U.Stud.G !!! make one
Prof as adviser
or something like this. Try to introduce GNU/*
thru him, that is
more ( I feel ) appropriate and Safe way of doing
things. :)
Bye :)
