Am reproducing this from distant memory but I had installed a pctel
internal modem in a linux redhat 8.0 box maybe 3 years back. I got it
from linmodems.org. I also remember a peculiar problem it had: after
you close a connection and then redial the system would hang and will
need a hard reboot. Perhaps it was a hsf chipset! Am not sure.
