| if anyone has, and is selling a HD44780 4x16 LCD or compatible clones,
| please inform me. also let me know if you happen to see one in ritchie
| st. or other places. has anyone in this group had any experience with
| lcdproc ?
`----
At one point of time I was so crazy about this thing. I used to haunt
Ritchie St every weekend for about two months... and finally gave
up. Maybe i was looking in the wrong place. ;/
However at a point of time, i thought I would "import" it from the US,
but i never did (I'm talking about one of those ready-made LCD mounts
that fits into the 5'1/4 bay. but i never did).
btw, For what purpose are you intending to use this LCD, if I may ask?
If its purely another extension of your monitor, well... :) you have
been affected by the same virus that hit me about a year ago ;) It
must be cured ;)
More seriously, if you want to monitor an array of servers, get
yourself a pager and use nagios <http://www.nagios.org>. Nagios is a
wonderful piece of software which can alert you by mail (and hence a
pager) when a machine's health status is bad. Having LCD-devices X
no. of machines is not very economic, IMO. A Pager is a wonderful way
of monitoring...
