[Ilugc] Kubuntu 9.04 - disconnecting network

My laptop is getting disconnected from the network often.

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart does nothing.

sudo dhclient eth0 is keep in requesting for an IP.

reboot is the only way to connect with network.
That too lasts for some 2 - 3 hours.

What will be the reason for this?

How to make the network connection persistent?
Possible problems
dhcp lease time is very short - or some thing
network-manager is a trouble in many circumstances - try disabling
