[Ilugc] Jupiter Venus Conjunction - simulation in stellarium

Start Stellarium.
Press F6 for the location window. Select Chennai.
Press F3 and search for Venus. Venus is currently behind a tree.
When searching for Venus, the object is not available in stellarium.
even moon, earth also not available in search.
What may be the reason?
I installed stallarium and stellarium-data in my ubuntu 11.10
