Hi,
People following ILUGC mailing lists know that we lost the domain
ILUGC.in as we failed to renew it sometime back in May 2017.
Usually the domain registrars allow a grace period to renew the
domain past the expiry date and even after multiple attempts,
we weren't able to renew it. Eventually after a generous grace period
(called redemption period) the domain will be deleted and put back into
the public pool. Only after a domain gets back into the public pool,
others can buy it.
ILUGC.in came back into public pool yesterday and I grabbed it immediately.
Now ILUGC.in domain is back.
But I don't have the website content to resurrect it completely.
In last week's meetup, during my talk about Hugo, I explained how I had
resurrected some of the posts from the old website from the
internet archive and recreated a static website using Hugo.
The website contents itself is available in a Github repository
at https://github.com/ilugc/ilugc.in and it is easy for anyone
to fork it and make contributions to it. Once you make a pull request
and the changes are merged back into master, the website is built and
the content will be visible in https://ilugc.in
The static HTML pages are hosted in Netlify (https://www.netlify.com)
which takes care of the continous build process and hosting of the
HTML pages and serving it over a CDN.
We do need contributions to the website from the members in the
form of content. If someone has the content from the old website,
please fill in the posts. If no one has the content, we can get them
from the web archive.
We also need newer content and now everyone can contribute to the
website. Please write tutorials or other articles related to
FOSS, Linux and other programming languages.
So fork away and contribute.
