Actually I think it is the
"stupid mode = 1"
that you have to enable in wvdial.conf to say "dont worry, the
connection is up, start pppd anyway"
as well .. Same headache with tata indicom phones.
Anybody know what the equivalent to that is in pppconfig?

I think, identifying the device name for the card
is the major problem.
I watchd the /var/log/messeges while repluging the card.
It took at /dev/ttyUSB0.
