1. You do not need a DNS. You only need to be able to resolve names thus
resolv.conf needs to be good.
2. Can you ping an external IP from the Linux machine? I guess not as
Analog is a proxy but does not do NAT (atleast when I used it last. Do
they now?)
I would suggest you make the Linux machine the mail and proxy server.
SQUID will give you far better controls than what Analog does. Configure
pppd with demand option to dial on demand.

I connect to net using win98 system.
We connect to Internet thro proxy server(Analog)
installed in Win98 system.
So confusing...?!?!
The LAN networking is quite fine(mainained using
/etc/hosts)
Do we need DNS for Sendmail..?
But ANY WAY I'm NEED OF THIS. PLZ HELP ME IN THIS
REGARD.
(Also, I'm not able to telnet
WWW.RemoteSystems.COM from linux system)
