Unlike all the other Linux distros we have tried, Ubuntu does not ask you to
set a root password during the install process. It actually, we are told,
sets up a root user with a random password, that's never intended to be used.
In order to login as root inside a Ubuntu system you can change the
password of the root user by following steps:
1) Login as the first user you have created during installation
2) Issue the following command
$ sudo passwd su
3) Enter a new password for the root user
4) Logout
5) Login as root with the password you have just changed
