Greetings!
We have been busy with Crescent and MIT the last
couple of weeks and hence we didn't conduct any GLV
sessions.
Toufeeq Hussain was suggesting that since students
will be heading for their exams, we can temporarily
stop the sessions and resume in June 2005. I do agree
with him.
But, if you guyz want to have some sessions during the
summer, we can continue to do that too. Asokan Pichai
(Ma Foi Academy) has confirmed the availability of the
labs.
A summer break will also give us some time to prepare
for next semester's talks. Compared to Fall 2004 where
we did just two events (Asan and IIT-M), we have done
an _enormous_ amount of work this semester, Spring
2005. Hats off to the faculty, students, and
management of colleges, ILUGC members for their
support and time. We _will_ continue our work next
semester too.
Also, there is no hard-and-fast rule that only people
in the industry have to give lectures. Even students
who are interested in giving talks are welcome. In
fact, students will have more time to give talks than
industry folks.
What I have planned for next semester:
1. Careers with GNU/Linux, for colleges where I
haven't yet presented
2. GNU/Linux Desktop, for colleges where I haven't yet
presented
3. Alliance VLSI CAD for Engineers
(ECE/EEE/Mechatronics)
My suggestion to volunteers would be to pick a topic
this summer, learn it (if new), prepare a presentation
and practice it. This way as soon as colleges give us
a green signal, we will be ready to go and do a guest
lecture/workshop. Usually, on Saturdays.
