On the server side, I know of one particularly horrible bug in grep
in Fedora, for that matter in RH9 as well: it takes exponential time
when the encoding is UTF-8 (default in RH9/Fedora). I've also been on
the Fedora mailing lists and IRC, and frankly, the QA process doesn't
those are minor buglets - and setting the encoding to anything other
than utf-8 is a "better idea" for various other reasons, such as at
least some perl scripts.
fc-1 has a solid kernel, a solid fs. Those two are the basics.
